It would be an amazing invention but in this specific iteration: would it be desirable?
The cover model, specially painted white for his appearance as a sexbot, is Robbie the Robot. Robbie was first seen in Forbidden Planet in which he famously saved Ann Francis. Subsequently Robbie made many guest appearances in television programs of the 1960s.

Modern accounts of sexbots seem to most often pitch the idea of cybernetic sex partners as fembots for men. But many of the vintage images show male sexbots for women.
Were the publishers playing on male insecurities, feeling of inadequacy?

The Ideal Woman
Rubber Dolly appears to be a novel about creating a female sex robot. I wonder when the idea of sexbots first appeared. A surprising amount of ‘futuristic’ ideas appeared in obscure – mostly European – novels, precursors of what we now call science fiction.

In the 1960s Julie Newmar played a robot in a short-lived sitcom, My Living Doll. I was a little boy and badly wanted to see the show. Savannah, GA only had two TV stations and not all of the – then three – televisions programs were seen. Evidently few – if any – prints of My Living Doll survive. So I’ll probably never get to see an episode.
